Beginner setup steps

1. Check equipment

Record Lenovo serial number, attach a removable ADS label, and photograph the computer and supplied accessories.

2. Confirm Windows

On the PC: Start → Settings → System → About. Verify Windows 11 Pro before enrolling in corporate device management.

3. Connect to company network

Use wired Ethernet where possible. Do not reset your router, change the internet provider, or expose remote desktop ports to the internet.

4. Set up employee account

Use an individually assigned employee identity. The owner retains a separate administrator identity.

5. Activate device protection

Enable Microsoft Defender, firewall and BitLocker as appropriate, and confirm recovery key escrow before relying on encryption.

6. Verify business software

Install Tekmetric/browser/printing for advisors. Confirm sign-in, scanning, printing, and intended employee permissions.

7. Update status

Set “Ready” only when the computer has been tested. Record the last audit date.

Never type the actual 48-digit BitLocker key here.
Store it only in an approved secure recovery system. This inventory records the key ID/reference and where to retrieve it.

Owner-only recovery vault.
Actual BitLocker recovery keys are stored in a separate database table accessible only after authenticator verification. This is cloud-provider encryption at rest, not end-to-end encryption; administrators with privileged database access may be able to view stored secrets. Keep a separately protected offline recovery copy.

Protected recovery instructions

The ordinary CSV inventory export does not include these protected vault fields. Passwords for Microsoft, GoDaddy, Supabase and other systems belong in a dedicated password manager, not this device inventory.
